Ocean Breeze

The Ocean Breath

This breath is also known as Ujjayi Breath translated to "breath of victiory". It is a Pranayama -life force extension- system hack that can bring your stress response down very quickly to homeostasis and put you into deep states of relaxation. Deep conscious breaths are a love song to and from Source. They are a conscious recalibration of the physical systems.

The Ocean breath is done by breathing deeply through the nose and then audibly pressing out the breath through the constricted throat as you exhale through the nose. Ujjayi is a diaphragm breath which first fills the lower belly (activating the first and second chakras), rises to the lower rib cage (the third and fourth chakras), and finally moves into the upper chest and throat (the fifth chakra). Imagine a wave swelling and crashing the shore then pulling back under to the depths of the ocean.

Inhalation and exhalation are both done through the nose. The "ocean sound" is created by moving the glottis as air passes out forcible yet comfortably. As the throat passage is narrowed so too is the airway, the passage of air through which creates a "rushing wave" sound. The inhalations and exhalations are equal in duration, and are controlled and comfortable.

It is that simple! As your ears hear the sound of your exhale it signals your brain that you are relaxing. Add to that that you are breathing deeply and flooding your body with oxygen and endorphins and you will quickly become deeply relaxed and warmed from within.

Guided Meditation

To connect with the ocean of consciousness that we are part of and access the depths within, we will go on a sacred guided journey. Use the questions for exploration afterward to record and explore further your experience of this journey.

Sit upright to lengthen the spine and open up the Nadis channel of the spine and Chakras (energy and gland centers) and to expand the belly and chest cavity for full volume of the lungs.
