(For)GIVING Purpose to Your Pain: Don't Let Your Pain Be In Vain

Author
Natalie Reimer Anderson

In the stories section we uncovered some of our old resentments towards others and even towards ourselves that are preventing us from being clear, complete and at peace. Use the following questions and exercises to identify how we use resentments to hold ourselves back and how to become free through the power of forgiveness.

Questions to Enhance Clarity and Transparency On the Path to Forgiveness:

What do I perceive holding onto resentment was benefitting me (secondary gain)?

If I was willing to forgive old resentments, injuries and perpetrators how would my life change? What would I gain (true gain)?

Now “collapse” the stories that you wrote earlier. First, consider just the facts of the story. Separate the facts from your emotions and interpretation of what happened. Retell it like an eye-witness account to a third party. Remove the emotional charge from the story. How does the story change by seeing it this way? Take yourself out of the victim role in the story and see it through neutral eyes for a new perspective.

Now “reframe” the story from a new empowered perspective (soul's eyes) rather than the victim consciousness (ego's eyes). Switch from the old paradigm to the new by viewing the story from your Soul's infinite knowing. What do you now realize about the perfection of your Soul’s view of the story?

How does this event, that became a significant story of your life, reveal a theme that may point to your Soul's curriculum or contract on Earth School? How can your pain be transmuted into purpose? How can this painful event actually be used by you to serve your best and highest?

What are the gifts of this event that you may have missed or have yet to claim? Are you willing to claim them now or do you need more time?

Important note: If you are not there yet that is okay too, it takes time to heal and come through the story to the other side where a new perspective is available. Patience, dear one. There is no need to rush the divine unfolding. It's YOUR story and YOU are the meaning maker. You can hit refresh on your page anytime you desire by doing this exercise again and again.
