Vision Quest
Visioning vs Visualizing
Having a vision is essential to any desire you want to manifest. However, there’s a difference between visioning and visualization. Both are very helpful but serve different purposes.
Visualization is a process where you’re creating and manipulating the vision or image you see. You visualize yourself autographing your book or you visualize yourself turning the key in the lock in your brand new art studio or
condo.
Visualization is imagining that begins with a clear and solid picture of what we desire and then through focusing on that image we visualize what it would be like and feel like to have what we desire. In other words — visualization works from the outside-in and can be limited to what we perceive is possible.
Visioning, on the other hand, is a different process: it’s a process of working from the inside-out. Instead of having a picture in your mind of what you want to see manifest in your life, you get still and quiet so that you are able to see the vision that comes to you. It IS NOT limited by your perceptions of what is possible.
This kind of visioning is an internal and intuitive process where instead of manufacturing a vision, you allow the vision to come to you. This is a powerful practice because often a greater vision than we could have imagined will come to us showing us the way to our soul-inspired path. Sometimes it's just a snapshot or a feeling that will come momentarily, but take it as a glimpse of what your higher mind is showing you is possible.
“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakens” ~Carl Jung

How To Vision:
Find a quiet place where you can sit uninterrupted for 15 minutes. Clear your mind with some deep cleansing breaths. Continue to focus on your natural breath cycles as you practice meditation for at least five minutes.
Begin to ask open-ended questions to your higher-self/God/Universe, such as:
“What do you want me to know?”
“What do I need to be shown to make my next move?”
“What can I do that will be the greatest contribution to Self and others?”
“What path is for the greatest good?”
“What do I need to know or see right now?”
Pay attention to the whispers/visions/thoughts/ideas that come up. Listen and observe. Get quiet enough to go within to hear the intelligence and messages waiting for you.
Have a pen and paper handy so that you can take notes of any insights that arise.
Once you feel complete/have a vision or visions/ideas come through, look over your notes and see if there is a clear next step forward.
If you received a multitude of different visions — take a deeper look and see if there is an overarching theme that is showing you your next move forward.
By taking the time to practice visioning, you may not get a perfectly clear message but by taking the time to reflect on what did come up during your visioning exercise, you’ll make sense of it by acknowledging the common themes that came up for you.
Visioning is a powerful exercise. Unlike visualization which is a mental/emotional rehearsal for manifesting your desires, visioning is an internal process of opening up to what’s possible that you may have never thought of for yourself. Visioning uses the power of meditation to help you receive the visions that will take you forward on your soul-inspired creation path.
And remember: this is not a one-time practice. This is an ongoing practice that helps you stay on track (especially when you feel uncertain or are starting something new). Visioning is a wonderful tool to help gain clarity and see how to move forward in all areas of life.
“There is almost a sensual longing for communion with others that have a larger vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendships between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality almost impossible to describe.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
